busy busy busy.

i am swamped with things to do today and will post more tomorrow. i’ve been booking lots of sessions for the fall and am going around the area scouting new locations for clients. there is no fun in continuing to shoot in the same places! i am also scouting out several thrift stores for props for an upcoming trash the dress session. i’m going to need to clean out the storage room in order to store ridiculous props from now on. :)  i’m also getting ready for several shoots and visits from two out-of-state friends. :) i should get a lot of awesome shots this month and i’m super excited. not a lot to post today because of all the running around, just a random nature shot or two. i’ll have more to update tomorrow. :)

also, it’s been raining a lot:

leggo my lego.

raleigh has a LEGO store! it just opened in crabtree valley mall not too long ago. we finally had a break in our schedule to allow us time to visit last week. it was everything i dreamed a lego store would be. tiny choking hazards everywhere! it is amazing. they even have a wall of loose legos that you can throw in a bucket because you know you’re always losing pieces under the couch. they have every lego thing ever. they even have legos whose difficulty labels them 14+ on the boxes. they looked pretty intense. they also have little mini lego scenes setup throughout the store. they seemed to be doing really well! i hope they stick around because that mall could use some fun.

and of course, we bought ourselves indiana jones lego magnets for our fridge. they are real legos but they have a big magnet on the lego base that sticks to your fridge.  of course, they also come apart like real legos do, so when you slam your freezer door too hard marion’s torch can go flying across your kitchen:

marion“weeeee!”

indy’s whip or gun can land in your cat’s bowl:

indy“weeeee!”

or sean connery’s map can become lodged in some piece of meat thawing on your countertop:

sean“not a fan of the ladies, are you trebek?”

these are by far the best kitchen investment we’ve made in a long time. forget about the new garbage can, the new faucet, or new electric chopper. we’re talking about having tiny removeable pieces of plastic attached to your fridge that vaguely resemble famous people from a movie almost 30 years old! that’s where it’s at.

bull durham.

i went to my first durham bull’s game on saturday night. and woah, is that crazy stuff. not only do they have fake sumo wrestling and ridiculous gimmicks about every 15 minutes or so, they have a fantastic game called “fish or no fish” where the contestants literally have to guess if a word on the screen is the name of a fish or not. then they shout out, “fish!” or … “no fish!” it is ridiculous and amazing. i was never so impressed at a baseball game… and the pittsburgh pirates have some pretty ridiculous gimmicks. come on, the perogie race?

i was also particularly impressed by the giant towering bull sign.

the bulls played norfolk and lost, but it was a good (and quick) game. it was umbearable muggy and humid to begin with, but cooled down quickly. the stadium is awesome and reminds me of a (very) mini PNC park. i’m totally looking forward to going home to pittsburgh in september to get some good PNC park shots with my wide angle. pirates games are always fun no matter how boring they are. does that make sense?

i’d love love love to do a photoshoot sometime in the old durham bull’s stadium of bull durham kevin costner fame. it’s still up and, well, sitting… somewhere in downtown durham. if anyone is up for that, please let me know. a bridal shoot even! we’ve gotta have some baseball couples around here, right?
