We love a good anniversary session. Stephanie and Randy are high school sweethearts that have been together for 17 years. Now that they’re celebrating their 9th wedding anniversary, they decided to have some photos taken. So we hopped, skipped, and jumped on down to Fort Mill, South Carolina to take photos of them hanging out and being adorable together. They love music (especially Phish, whom they’ve traveled from Maine to Florida to see), and biking/hiking around the Charlotte area, where they moved from New York. We had a great time getting to know them while running around some pastures, exploring some creeks, getting bitten by mosquitos, and making friends with horses. They sat in hay, walked through streams, and were super good sports the entire time. :) Stephanie’s been a big fan of ours for a while and we hope the pictures fulfill the CSP wedding anniversary dream! We couldn’t have asked for two nicer or funnier people to spend a great fall evening with.
There’s nothing quite so fabulous as Charleston in the spring, except if you’re there to shoot a wedding with some really good people. We photographed Jen and Aaron’s engagement session in Durham, and were super thrilled that they were taking us to South Carolina for their wedding! We were even more thrilled that it was going to be in April before the mosquitos got there! However, it turns out that a whole lot of bitey gnats picked up the mosquitos’ slack and followed us around and chewed on us. For all of their couple portraits where they’re looking very sweet and adorable and attractive, they’re actually being slowly eaten alive by a creek we insisted on putting them near (sorry, guys). But! We think it was worth it. There was moss (yes!) and outdoor string lights (yes!) and water (yes!) and boggy-ness (yes!) and the weather was absolutely perfect (including a brief shower in the evening that washed away the humidity for the rest of the next). We love being in Charleston, we love these guys, and we loved everything about this amazing wedding.

Team ChrisKris is back! This time there was no pizza, but there was a wedding instead! There was also lots of talk about Krispy Kreme (the best man has an app on his phone that alerts him whenever the donuts are hot), and lots of smack-talk between Chris and Kristen about who’s better at Call of Duty (I’m not getting involved in this debate). Between the donuts and video game smack-talk, there were also some Lego Movie references (thanks for getting “Everything is Awesome” stuck in my head again, Chris), and the general agreement between everyone present that Daryl is the best character in the Walking Dead. If you can’t already tell, it’s like Chris and Kristen are Geoff and I’s life partners… except in reality they’re each other’s life partners instead of ours, and they live in Charlotte so it’s hard to see them. But in spirit, it’s nice to know that there’s another couple out there spending their evenings reading and/or arguing about video games. We like them!
We also like their families (because everyone was hilarious) and their friends (because everyone was hilarious). When you’re having a smaller, intimate wedding, it helps when your people are nice and funny (and willing to hop over construction barriers without complaining). There was a hot chocolate bar (with Batman cups!) and a lot of books and purple accents and amaaaazing food and a lot of really entertaining dancing (Chris’s dad, we’re talking to you). Everyone was so entertaining and fabulous that, if we can think of a way to just start quietly and slyly showing up at this group’s family functions, we totally will. But for now we’ll have to settle on seeing them when we can and loving them all from afar.
Everything is awesome… everything is cool when you’re part of a team…!
