Aww, you guys. Last time I photographed Lindsay and Rishi was in 2019 when they were pregnant with their first daughter. Now they have two insanely cute daughters and are back in the area after several moves in the last decade, one of which was abroad. Lindsay and I kept in touch during those times because I became quite internet-attached to Bogart, her cat, who I had never met in real life but felt like I knew in my soul. And while I unfortunately never got the opportunity to meet Bogart, I now have finally met Roxie, their dachshund, who was just as impressive in person as she is online. In fact, even more so, because this is the very first dog in my entire 38 years of life who I’ve ever seen truly beg. Like, sit on her hind legs, stand up, put her paws together and move her hands back and forth beg. Like a little circus dog. The best part? Lindsay and Rishi never taught her how to do that – she just came that way. And now, all these years later (Roxie is a dignified senior), she still does it. And it’s one of the best things I’ve ever seen. It was so much fun to photograph this crew in their home and looking for treasures on a walk (their daughters collect these treasures in a treasure box in the garage, which is a beautiful group of perfectly preserved deceased butterflies, cicadas, feathers, leaves, pinecones, grasshoppers, etc). And another Familiar Dolls cat doll may have made an appearance towards the end…#shamelessselfpromotion.
This is the 4th time we’ve photographed Annie+Kunal (their last session is here), and it’s an absolute pleasure each time. Annnnd we’ll actually be seeing them again shortly for another session, so at this point I think we could safely move in and no one would notice. But for this session, Annie’s Dad Tim contacted us and wanted to get family photos while everyone was in town together after the holidays. So much has been happening for this family! Tim and his partner Lorre just moved to the area from Tucson, Arizona to be closer to Annie and Kunal, who just gave birth to their second daughter Adhira while keeping up with Aashna, their toddler extraordinaire (and budding chef/baker/soccer player). Lorre’s daughter Brianne just got back in town from some time spent in Japan, and Wanda, Annie’s grandmother, was visiting from elsewhere in NC. Kunal’s parents Mahesh and Rekha flew in from India to be with their kids and grandkids over the holidays, and Kunal’s brother Manu came in from Little Rock. So there was a ton of family, and they were all happy to be together! We were lucky to get to photograph them hanging out at Tim and Lorre’s beautiful home, baking cupcakes and chasing around Aashna. This was the first time we had seen everyone together since Annie and Kunal’s wedding in 2015, and a great time was had by all. :)
Edy and Andy have been such great supporters of us ever since they booked us, and I feel like they’re our constant cheerleaders. It’s so wonderful when you feel like clients get you! And when they’re comfortable with you, you’re comfortable with them, and all’s right with the world. We’ve had a great time working with not only them, but their adorable son Louie, who loves dinosaurs even more than me and also enjoys bossing people around about as much as I do. We first met Louie at Edy and Andy’s engagement session last year with their superfluff of a doggo named Nacho. We were happy to reunite with Louie and his armada of plastic dinosaurs at their wedding, and to see Edy and Andy again!
This wedding had one of the best floral altars I’ve ever seen, a vivacious bride and groom who are so supportive and caring for one another, and a band called the Harmonica Lewinskies. I daresay that I’ve never heard of a band with such a great name, and I don’t expect I’ll ever find a better one. They were formed by one of Edy and Andy’s close friends who passed away a few years ago, and they’ve since kept in touch with his bandmates who were there to support them as they got married. So not only do they have the best name, but they also have a personal connection to the couple, and everyone felt like family. Edy and Andy were married at the edge of the forest in some of the most beautiful afternoon lighting on a gorgeous day! There was thunder, but no rain, and it was all quite perfect. They danced the night away in the barn with all their family and friends. We’re so happy to have had such a loving and joyful couple as our clients. Congrats, Edy+Andy!
