If I ever tell you that I watched some weird horror movie recently but mostly talked about the themed food that accompanied it, chances are these were the other people involved. The best of those situations, in my opinion, was when we made assorted deviled eggs for the Easter horror movie about a giant killer bunny, and the worst was when we tried to put spaghetti in a plastic brain mold for Halloween Ends. They can’t all be winners. Jon makes amazing fried pickles, and Jen makes the best charcuterie boards. And there to pick up all the pieces that we drop on the floor, is SamSam, their… black… golden retriever? Long haired black lab? Fuzzy doggo butt? I don’t know what breed SamSam is but she is extremely cute and extremely fuzzy and likes to boop you on the leg with her nose when she doesn’t feel like she’s getting her fair share of snacks. SamSam LOVES it when Declan is around because Declan is a primary floor-snack source. I love it when Declan is around because he’s just plain funny and adorable. Usually he makes me food in his play kitchen, but during this photoshoot I was introduced to candle-sniffing Declan, which is apparently his favorite Target shopping activity. He takes a candle, opens it, sniffs it extremely dramatically with a scrunched-up nose face, and then runs over to you so that you can do the same thing. He’s precious. Then he smartly puts the candle in his Target shopping cart and off he goes. These folks are truly incredible people and friends, and I’m happy to photograph them again. Oh, and if you’re looking for a dose of Dad humor, Jon runs the best Dadstagram there is.
Amy and Ben welcomed little Nathan into the world in the spring of 2018 and now he’s somehow a walking, talking toddler who likes bubbles and DeLoreans. And while Amy and Ben are now part of the prestigious CSP 6 Timer’s Club, little Nathan is being welcomed into the CSP 2 Timer’s Club (not as devious as it sounds)! Nathan is an incredibly cute little boy who’s friendly and intelligent, much like his parents and also their cats. He has a friend named Mr. BokBok who is an oven mitt shaped like a chicken.
Nathan is the only toddler I’ve met who cheerfully volunteers to banish himself to his crib and wants to be buckled in his high chair (Amy and Ben claim that he does not, however, want to do either of these things if they’re not his idea first). He likes cheddar bunnies and has a 1980s-looking puffer jacket of which I’m profoundly jealous. He enjoys wearing it while driving around his dad’s model DeLorean car and looking so, so, so very Back to the Future. In his spare time, Nathan also enjoys looking through Amy’s credit cards and talking about trucks. He’s a busy fellow, but Amy and Ben keep up. They bought a new place that has the best wallpaper ever and, even better, a door where it’s now impossible for me to accidentally lock them out of their own house. Amy and Ben have been a part of my client family for such a long time, and I’m so happy to be documenting Nathan now too. GREAT SCOTT.
Andrea and Mark are a great wedding couple of ours from back in 2013 and we were super thrilled to hear from them! Like, really really thrilled. Well, we heard from Mark, who bought this session for Andrea for Christmas. And attached to said e-mail was a statement proclaiming that they’d like photos of their tiny human!! And then he sent us a picture of said tiny human for proof of his a.) tinyness and b.) humanness and c.) existence. And he was SO CUTE. And we were so happy for Andrea and Mark! And we were REALLY EXCITED to shoot in the exact same house that they got ready in for their wedding, only this time the room where Andrea put on her wedding dress was converted to Albert’s room, and it felt like our work with them had come full circle. :)
And we met Albert. And we can say with 100% certainty that he realizes exactly what he’s doing in all situations. He saw us. He saw our cameras. He ran to his mom, hugged her, and smiled at us charmingly. He saw us. He saw our cameras. He ran to his dad and smiled at us charmingly. He saw us. He saw our cameras. He cried until they gave him an entire block of white cheddar which he ate by himself in the bushes. Albert is hilarious. And seriously, seriously adorable. And also, he has a taco shirt. I mean really.
