Jane and Alex are engageeeed(!) and getting married in MEXICO (jealousss) and hired me to photograph their engagement portraits (yaaaaay!) under the stipulation that we try our best to avoid ticks (ewwwwww). Jane has gorgeous hair and incredibly fit upper arms, and Alex has very impressive eyelashes in an almost-Richard-from-Lost type of fashion. They are very cute. They have also lived in every state beginning with the letter C, visited 46/50 states, and have both lived abroad, which is so impressive! We had fun discussing their travels, work, and hobbies. They met while they were both attending Wake Forest and now live happily in Durham with their two dogs. They spend a good deal of their time now browsing PetFinder, and trying to convince one another that they don’t need a third dog. When not contemplating the pitfalls of life with three dogs, Jane spends her time lifting heavy things, and Alex spends his watching baseball or playing video games. Together they’re rock-solid, and they can thankfully both lift each other in a pinch should the occasion arise where the floor would suddenly become lava and they’d need to take turns carrying one another to safety. I enjoyed working with them very much, and thankfully all ticks were avoided during this shoot.
Chasity and Michael are a wonderful couple who spent their three-year wedding anniversary wandering around Lake Lynn with us, talking about He-Man and The Walking Dead. Chasity has an incredibly charming southern accent from spending half of her life in Georgia, and has the blondest and most wonderful head of hair I think I’ve seen on a real human. It is indeed her natural hair color, and it is fabulous. We’ve had quite a few clients who are walking shampoo commercials in the past couple of months, and she’s definitely up on there on the list. Chasity loves loves loves Michael, their dog named Binx (named after the Hocus Pocus cat), cooking, running, and photography. Her and Michael are on-the-go people, with Chasity working as a medical assistant for a dermatologist and Michael being a police officer.
In Michael’s off time, he enjoys 80s things. He collects toys, he watches comic-book movies and tv shows, and also likes to paint. It appears that he has a toy collection that potentially rivals Geoff’s extensive Star Wars collection, with He-Man being the toy he’d choose to take with him on a desert island. This sparked a painful retelling of how Geoff’s He-Man toy mysteriously disappeared from his tent while he was camping once, and also how he narrowly saved his He-Man sleeping bag from a yard sale (it is indeed living in our linen closet where Geoff can keep an eye on it). We had a fabulous time getting to know Chasity and Michael, and documenting them at this point in their lives and their marriage! It was an honor to be with you guys on your wedding anniversary and so thoroughly discuss He-Man with you.
YAY! We love having the weddings of former bridesmaids and groomsmen and family members and stuff because that’s valid feedback that we did something right. We met Anne and Brian at Susan and Michael’s wedding where Anne was a bridesmaid (a wonderful and helpful bridesmaid!) and were so excited when she emailed us to ask about their own wedding next year! Then we got to do their engagement session here at the NCMA which they fell in love with, and got to spend some more time with them, mostly trying to convince ourselves that Jon Snow is still alive. We had a zero percent change of rain that turned into 100% chance of rain somehow and it rained but it didn’t much matter because we had a great time. We are very much looking forward to shooting their wedding next year, long after we all discover that Jon’s alive and well and not at all involved with Melisandre because she is evil and nobody likes her.
