EXCELLENT.

canon repairing your camera’s broken pixels and autofocus issues in 7-10 days instead of 7-10 weeks + my family visiting this weekend + my birthday + NO RAIN now on saturday for the U2 concert = EXCELLENT.

man some days are just good. it would be better if goodberry’s had their pumpkin flavor again today (highly recommended), but alas, it was last night.

here come the edits of my lovely friend abigail and her fantastic boyfriend matt! it was so fun to shoot these guys. abby was a teacher friend from my teaching days and i hadn’t seen her in a long time. these two met us out at west point on the eno park in durham which turns out to be a fantastic place to shoot. there’s a bunch of creepy old barn houses, water, and plenty of wildlife.

and by “plenty of wildlife” i mean that we saw “do not disturb the snakes” signs, almost had abby and matt accidentally sit next to a gigantic spider hiding in the grass, and i got bitten and/or stung by an unidentified bug… a bite/sting that pursued its painful, itchy course for several days until i had to go to the doctor. hmm.

this is one of those places that, once again, is beautiful to shoot at if you’re all into the wildlife and are wearing rubber pants. unfortunately, abby was wearing a dress way before we saw the giant spider and “do not disturb the snakes” sign. thankfully her and matt escaped unscathed and geoff and i have now decided to put a first aid kit and wet wipe containers in with our gear. :)

i’ll continue to edit these next week, but for now here’s a preview of the adorable couple:

have a great weekend!! :)

continuing to hash out the edits from nichole and kevin’s wedding. love these pictures! they had their reception at st. michael the archangel’s gallery – it’s basically a reception hall that is next door to the church. it was a beautiful green room that looked great in the daylight. their wedding and ceremony was in the morning and early afternoon, so the light coming in the windows made the green a very nice backdrop color. the reception may take a few days to edit – there are lots! – but they’re adorable photographs of an adorable couple. here are some more of my recent favorites:

nichole totally had the right idea and switched into these fuzzy slippers before entering the reception!

one of the benefits of being a wedding photographer is that you get to take home centerpieces that the bride no longer wants. this wedding? a beta fish in a vase. it became quickly apparent that dolfy was quite determined to get inside the vase to eat “moosey,” so we gave him to our 9 year old neighbor who is very happy. moosey now resides in a tank instead of a vase, but he’s happy nonetheless.

my favorite thing to do at weddings is take ring shots! nichole and kevin gave me their rings during dinner so i ran around with them for a good while. this has to be one of my favorites, but a super sweet second will come tomorrow – rings in a stack of gummy bears. :)

hey! i didn’t blog yesterday – had a busy event photographing the awards ceremony for con-way freight trucking company at the angus barn. it was great – the people were super nice and the food was outstanding, but more on that later. still trucking through the sorting and color correcting process of the most recent wedding of nichole and kevin. in between editing and meeting clients i have found myself getting progressively worse in the household cleaning duties. major slacking in the house due to major action in the business has resulted in overflowing laundry containers of both clothes and towels. tonight i have resolved myself to taking a break, eating goodberry’s, and watching lost. and it will be good.

finally on to the ceremony and the aftermath for kevin and nichole! here are a few recent edits:

flash was not permitted at st. michael’s during the cermony and services, so before we took alter shots i was testing my flash levels. the maid of honor and the best man cheerfully stepped in to be my light testing models:

we took the majority of the formal shots at the alter by request of the couple and family. however, the couple and i had a few moments outside before they entered the reception where we got some lovely shots:
