Living and working in Durham has been so great for us. We bought our home here in 2012 and we’ve seen the city grow a lot since then: new restaurants and entertainment, new buildings and apartments, and new places for me to find gluten-free pizza (thank you, Durham!). So I was pretty excited when I was asked to shoot some photos of the Central Park District for Discover Durham. My client Jacques, who you all know and love!, works there and asked me to do these pictures (yay!), and together we walked 13,000 steps of Durham and talked to a lot of strangers to get these shots. Discover Durham is every Durhamite’s best friend. They’re essentially the folks who help Durham thrive via marketing, advocation, attracting visitors and spreading the word about events. If you don’t follow them on Instagram, you 100% should. Their stories are great at listing all the local Durham things you can do every weekend, usually accompanied by a hefty dose of humor. They’re one of my favorite accounts. Follow them here! PLUS they always have great photos, so I’m thrilled that they asked me to do this shoot. So many thanks to Jacques and Ashley of Discover Durham for hanging out with me at this session, and thank you to all the Durham businesses and individuals who gave their permission to be a part of this project.
We are very excited to announce that Rosalyn+Patrick’s September 2010 wedding was published in the February/March issue of Durham Magazine! I know this news is a little late, but we just found out. :) CSP would like to thank Rosalyn, Patrick, and their wonderful friends and family for allowing us to take part in their beautiful wedding and giving us permission to publish it. And we’d like to thank the staff at Durham Magazine, specifically Matt Dees, for doing wonderful work on the feature. :) YAY!! Now I’ve gotta go send one of these copies to my grandma. ;)
meet rosalyn and patrick: two lawyers currently residing in charlotte. rosalyn is a north carolina native while patrick’s family lives in washington state. both sides of the family came together at the always lovely american tobacco bay 7 in durham for this gorgeous wedding. :) they’re a beautiful couple and we had a great time getting to know them and their family and friends. i’m so happy we were able to be a part of it!
so happy rosalyn chose wavelengths salon in durham to get her hair done! i love shooting there. great colors, great light, and a super accommodating staff. i told them that i’m slowly accumulating pictures of all of their staff members, hehe.
she went veil-less and opted for the orchids in the hair! nice touch!
she bought a washington state garter on etsy for patrick’s alma mater. :) cute!
the ceremony was held at st. philips in downtown durham, nc. very dark and lots of restrictions in terms of where i could stand, but a very beautiful old church and a great ceremony.
and now we’re on to american tobacco bay 7 for the wedding reception. such a neat place to shoot.
are you ready for tons of reception pictures?! i loved this. not only is bay 7 neat looking by itself, but they had a lighting guy come in and string up some awesome white lanterns and market lights. it was adorable…so prepare for the excessive amount of reception pictures i’m blogging! aaaannddd GO!
i was able to work with my friend brian mcguire of mcsound productions for this wedding reception. guy throws a great party!
goodnight, american tobacco! and congratulations, rosalyn and patrick! thank you for allowing me to be part of your beautiful wedding. :)
