Big Dog Little Bed

I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve photographed Big Dog Little Bed but if you’re looking to book me for branding photos, Janice is one of the reasons I got back into the branding photo game after taking a few years off, so you have her and her adorable dogs to thank for my return. Janice is an incredible videographer that I had the pleasure to meet when Geoff and I were shooting weddings. We became friends and have worked together in several different capacities since, as well as enjoy cheering for our husbands on their sandlot baseball team. For those of you familiar with my old shoots of BDLB, you might realize that there is a new set of doggos on this shoot. The old BDLB doggos have since passed and we miss them very much, but we welcome with open arms the fresh faces of Layla Bean (little dog) and Bernie (big dog) on this shoot! I’ve photographed Layla Bean before, but this was my first time photographing the Bern, and she didn’t disappoint. She is a sweet dog who does a great job cramming herself into a little bed on command. So happy to do these new branding photos for my friends at BDLB in their gorgeous office with the new pups!

Such a joy to photograph this family again, this time with the bright and shining new addition of a baby boy! Abbi and Olivia have been dear clients and friends for a few years and we’ve quickly bonded over our love of home projects and animals. I should’ve known that their newborn’s room would be equally adorable, complete with painted outlet covers (!) and a beautiful dresser that Olivia had just finished building. I also was able to take photos of the boys on a gorgeous quilt that Abbi made. Their home is full of personal touches everywhere you look, and these boys are so well loved by their mamas and their precious doggo, Basil. This blog post is dedicated in memory to their beloved dog Maizee, who I had the privilege of working with over the years, and who was a beautiful, sweet soul who will be dearly missed.

We photographed Sara and Jackson back in 2016 when they were freshly engaged and before I knew that Sara had a household full of plants. SARA HAS A HOUSEHOLD FULL OF PLANTS. They’re all wonderful. She’s a very good plant lady. The plants like her. She keeps alive plants I’ve killed many times. Likewise, her husband Jackson and dog Pippa are also still alive (I’m clearly running out of good transitions) and thriving alongside Sara. Jackson is still a paleontologist (YAY!) but is still not Ross from Friends (booooo) and still doesn’t spend his weekends in tan khaki shorts, wool socks, hiking books, and a safari hat digging up bones with little brushes in the desert (double booooooooo). It’s really disappointing but I still like him. Sara is currently completing her masters and just finished a complicated thesis! She was thankfully not hunched over a computer typing during the shoot but instead had that satisfying look on her face of “I’ve turned in a large paper and now there’s nothing left to do.” A wonderful feeling. Together, they live with Pippa, a VERY GOOD GIRL who does tricks and is exceedingly friendly but looks like we’re constantly embarrassing her (probably because we are). So they put her in a Christmas sweater and made guacamole and I photographed it.
