When we uploaded these onto my computer last night, Geoff and I started looking through them, and the first thing out of my mouth was, “Look, honey, it’s Travis and Claire!” It was really strange to see them on screen, in our editing program, staring back at us. Normally this is not strange, but when people are your good friends, it suddenly becomes really weird to see them through your editing program. It’s like seeing a picture of them in a magazine, maybe. That’s the best way I can think of to describe it anyway. It’s quite strange.
Anyway – Travis and Claire have been our friends practically since we moved to North Carolina (or very shortly after, anyway). Geoff met Travis at work. I remember when he first told me about him… which consisted of him saying, “I met a guy named Travis at work. He seems pretty cool.” Which, in Geoff-speak, is him being really excited about a possible new bromance (Geoff doesn’t typically talk about work). So I was excited to meet Travis and he’s lived up to the “pretty cool” standards Geoff set up for him. They started playing baseball together on an adult men’s league that’s local, and I started hanging out with Travis’s awesome girlfriend (now fiancé), Claire.
If Claire’s not at a baseball game, I get pretty sad, as we typically sit there and talk for several hours. Occasionally people ask us the score and we realize that we should probably be paying more attention (sorry, Geoff and Travis). We get sunburned and there’s typically nowhere to pee, but we continue to go for support the boys (and, for me, to harass Claire for a few hours). These two get married in September and we will be excitedly attending the wedding ourselves and, since we’re off the clock, totally taking advantage of their open bar. We love you guys.
