Amanda and Jennifer are two of the funnest people. Yes, funnest. Amanda has a really contagious, wonderful laugh, and Jennifer is incredibly funny. Together, they’re happy and laughing and adorable and the funnest. We woke up early and joined them for their brunch wedding (where there was french toast and sausage and eggs and some sort of magical potato hashbrown casserole) which was delightful because Amanda is also gluten intolerant so I could eat their food and also their cake (which was all very, very delicious). Also, brunch is the best, and their favors were mugs that said, “THANKS A BRUNCH” that I may or may not have been drinking tea out of all week because everyone loves a good brunch pun.

They are SO NICE! And their families are SO NICE! And we got to hang out with everyone and celebrate with them and be there for all those special moments like the one where they called their dog boarder in the car on the way to the ceremony to make sure their dogs were okay because it was the first time they had been boarded and they were concerned (spoiler alert: the dogs were fine and well adjusted and had made friends with the people at the kennel). And it was super fun and they had us laughing and entertained all day. Amanda and Jennifer are so good for each other and practically radiate little heart-eye emojis and we love them A BRUNCH.

Marissa and John found us, liked our website bats, and booked us. We met them, liked Marissa’s bangs and John’s happy smile, and accepted. Also, they have hermit crabs. AND THE HERMIT CRABS CAME TO THE WEDDING. I was so excited. I was disappointed none had been wearing a top hat or a little gown, but I guess there’s only so much you can do (they did travel all the way from Boone after all, and were probably tired doing all of their… hermit crab… things). Marissa and John are the happiest, friendliest, super chillest teacher people we know (and it’s a good thing they are because they will make fantastic and patient teachers and the world needs them). There was a bajillion kajillion chance of rain on their wedding day, and for an outdoor ceremony, that’s not so good. And rain it did. And then it stopped. And we took pictures, ran outside, did a ceremony, and then the rain started again. And then it stopped. And then we took some pictures. And it started again. And then it stopped. And we did their exit. And then it started again. So, I’d say we were as lucky as we could possibly be at dodging rain again this weekend. Can you believe Marissa’s bangs looked this good with such high humidity? It’s crazy.

It made Brooke happy when she found out that we were cat people even though she doesn’t have a cat (Peter’s allergic), and so it made us happy that it made her happy, and what we wish for them most in their married life is the development of a truly hypoallergenic cat so that they can get one and live happily ever after.

We hadn’t had the opportunity to meet these two until their rehearsal since they live in DC, but we did meet them (obviously) and they were as charming as we expected them to be and then some. Brooke went to school at UNC and actually worked at the Carolina Inn when she was in college, so it was quite fitting for her to get married there. Peter went to George Washington but roots heavily for the University of Maryland terrapins, so there was a lot of taunting and tongues sticking out and a cake shaped like a turtle and I believe a threat was made by the bride when she told someone to start cutting the terrapin cake at the neck (Peter did not). At the end of the night, pom poms were passed out in both UNC blue and white and Maryland red and black. The ultimate betrayal was committed by Peter’s mother who decided to use the UNC pom poms.

We were honored to be a part of Brooke and Peter’s wedding and so thankful to have had the opportunity to meet and work with them! More importantly – it seems that our Carolina Inn rain curse was finally broken and despite a more or less constant threat of an immediate downpour, it never rained. :) Thank you to Brooke and Peter’s family for being so awesome and for hosting an amazing wedding!
