Remember Lauren and Nick? They probably look familiar from jumping off baggage carousels at the airport for their engagement session. Their wedding was equally impressive and entertaining on all fronts.

Fun facts: 1.) They played Rockabye Baby lullaby renditions of Pearl Jam songs for their ceremony seating 2.) Lauren handmade all of the paper flowers for the bridesmaid bouquets and the boutonnieres 3.) Their friend made delicious cupcakes (and gluten-free ones!) and I ate them happily 4.) Lauren’s shoes had giant birds on them and were the best things I’ve seen in a long time and I should probably buy these for myself right now 5.) Their first dance was to Hall and Oates. And what self respecting person doesn’t love themselves some Hall and Oates?

The weather was gorgeous, the bride and groom were gorgeous, and we had a fantastic time. They let me put their rings on sushi and weren’t afraid of a little graffiti or slightly muddy/train track conditions. Lauren informed me that her dress was bought online and also comes in blue, so as soon as I can think of an opportunity to wear a dress this fabulous, I’ll buy it. Congratulations on your marriage, friends, and we hope to see you at a Pearl Jam concert real soon.

Sara+Kevin Get Married

Sara and Kevin got married at the Wake County Courthouse on Monday, April 1st (no foolin’) and then brought us along to document the aftermath… which was essentially them running around with us. :D They had been together for 9 years and are originally from Pittsburgh as well, but now live down here! We didn’t know each other up there, so Sara was really excited when she found us and together the four of us complained about Pennsylvania weather and various other Pittsburgh-related complaints and joys. Sara’s dad even does a lot of acting work for the film students at Point Park, which is my alma mater (Gooooo Pioneers!), and gets frequently type cast as the Italian mobster even though he is not Italian (which I can testify to as he gave me an awesome movie they made where he plays the feared Italian mobster dad who threatens people, beats them up, and says things like, “You know what my problem is?”, “You made a mistake stepping into my territory.”, and “He sold us out to the feds!” It was amazing).

Down here in the south, Sara’s an OR technician at a Lasik office and Kevin’s a firefighter. We’re trying to convince them to join our Tough Mudder team in November so Kevin can rescue all of us during the part where we run through a bunch of on-fire hay bales. They both love each other, Seinfeld, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and their adorable dog Winnie who joined us at the Flying Saucer at the end of the shoot. :) They were awesome sports climbing in trees, climbing through trees, climbing down trees, and generally putting up with us for a while on their wedding day. Sara and Kevin are amazing people, super kind, and generally awesome. Please join us in wishing them a huge congratulations on their marriage!

Have I mentioned just about every two minutes on this blog how tired we all are of winter? I think I have. But I think this wedding was our break. The beginning of Lynne and Justin’s day started overcast and dreary with a 50% chance of rain. But then they were married, the clouds parted, and HEY GUYS I THINK THAT IS THE SUN! (but it’s hard to tell since it’s so unfamiliar to all of us right now!)

And we couldn’t be happier that the sun came out for them and that the forecast was quite wrong. The first time we met them, we met the two of them and Lynne’s mom Donna. Moms tend not to like us at first because they’re worried that all of their kids’ pictures are going to be “too strange.” (Fact: we have won over every mother that has severely doubted us to date!) But Donna loved us and understood us right away, was probably more familiar with our body of work than we ourselves were, and became one of the most excited people ever to have us on board. Another side fact: we never let anybody book us at the consultation because we’d rather them go home and talk about us and make sure they’re on the same page (you never know). But Lynne forgot her scarf at our house so I called them to stop them hopefully before they got on the highway, but Justin said, “Keep it for her as I’m sure we’ll be seeing you again soon.” And we booked them. And I held Lynne’s scarf hostage for several months (it was really cute but I didn’t wear it even though I thought it would look good).

The next time we saw them, they were quite dapper and gorgeous looking and getting married! They had their cute little dog named Fuga who joined them in the hotel while they got ready, cool old timey oil lamps (and were kind enough to give us two to take home!), departed in Lynne’s Jeep at the end of the night because her parents had departed in their Jeep on their wedding day, but the coolest thing I thought about their wedding was them incorporating succulents that were taken straight from Lynne’s grandmother’s garden and were actually Hens & Chicks passed down from generations in her family (they let me take some of them home too!!). This wedding was an absolute blast with amazing people who have a very obvious and true love for each other… and I’m not just saying that because they gave us cool stuff.
