Erin and Tim are two pretty fantastic people who like all the things that are prerequisites to acquiring Geoff’s forever love: namely Star Wars, Back to the Future, and Indiana Jones. They had obscure nerdy references to things I didn’t understand in their vows but that I caught Geoff chuckling at, their cake had a Star Wars quote on it, and they registered for a giant Darth Vader head toaster (which they received, by the way). It sounds like it wouldn’t be hard to acquire Geoff’s forever love based on the above criteria but I promise you it’s more difficult than it sounds (I’m still working on it by finding myself standing in line at 12am at Toys R Us when new action figures come out). He was deeply impressed by Erin and Tim, and I was too from the few references that I actually caught and understood, but also because even without said references they’re still super nice and funny and clever people. It rained. It rained all day (a pattern that was to repeat itself for the next two weddings we had as well), but thankfully they got married in a super awesome old house and were good sports about the whole thing. So here they are, folks… may the force be with them.

Patrice and Ben are two of the friendliest, happiest, most fabulous people we’ve had the pleasure of working with. They booked us a very long time ago, and we’ve been exchanging random Game of Thrones updates and Hodor videos since. Residing in NYC, they’ve been long distance with us, and we were super excited to finally meet them in the Outer Banks for their wedding. Patrice is always really, really smiley in her pictures and she is just as smiley in real life. Geoff has mistaken her Facebook photos for Topanga several times. She’s also like a happy, fun combination of the Olsen Twins if they ever smiled in anything ever past the age of 6. She is gorgeous and generous and kind. Ben doesn’t look like Topanga or an Olsen Twin, but is handsome and funny and calm. Their friends and family are outgoing, enthusiastic, energetic, and it was the most musical theater of any reception we’ve ever photographed, and I can say that having graduated from a musical theater college. There were a lot of complicated dance moves, a couple people ended up in the pool, and at least one adult-themed costume was worn on the dance floor. Also, pirate gear, party confetti poppers, and our first Wedding Piñata. It was a fabulous ceremony, reception, and weekend, and we were so glad to be there with them. Check it out!

When we first met Jess+Erin, they invited us to come out to Jess’s mother’s property out in Pittsboro. It is a gorgeous property – wooded, with tons of space, trees, plant beds, and garden space. Their dream was to turn the property into the perfect venue for their wedding, but they were in for a ton of gardening. The space for the ceremony was in a gated garden area, and they walked us through where the chairs would be and where they’d stand and their vision for the various things they’d plant in order to maximize the full blooming potential of the land for the following year. The property was already beautiful, but we couldn’t believe it when we returned a year later for their wedding to see the garden. It had absolutely blossomed, literally and figuratively, and there were tons and tons of flowers everywhere. They used their own garden flowers for their bouquets, for their centerpieces, and just about everywhere in between. There were butterflies everywhere, and lots of other colorful bugs. They had gardened and gardened and crafted and crafted and made this wedding from scratch. It was absolutely a dream venue space.

It goes to show that Jess and Erin work hard and are creative, kind, joyful people. They always had faith in us, each other, and their family and friends. Everyone pulled together in an awesome showing of love and support to get this done, and we think it turned out beautifully. Congratulations friends, you are truly a beautiful couple inside and out, and we are so thankful to have worked with you both.
