Durham Branding Photographer

Carolyn Scott is a Durham branding photographer. She specializes in candid and editorial branding photography in the Triangle area (Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Cary, etc). Carolyn’s work has been published in several popular books and magazines, including Apartment Therapy, BuzzFeed, and Fangoria. Locally, she’s been voted Best Photographer in Durham Magazine’s Best Of Durham and INDY Week’s Best of the Triangle. She lives in South Durham with her husband Geoff and three cats.

This lovely client found her way to me by inquiring about real estate photography for one of her clients. I referred her to someone else, and shortly after received another e-mail from her… this time asking me to take her portraits. :) When she told me about her company and products, I was so excited. Stephanie Wetzel is the brains and beauty behind Trading Pounds, a business centered around her recent weight loss (she’s lost over an amazing 170 pounds so far since January 2010!). She’s already written and published one cookbook and is in the process of writing her second. Trading Pounds includes a blog, free e-books, and other personal coaching tools. Stephanie wanted some new photos to show her kick-butt new look and I was more than happy to help. She’s a ridiculously fun girl who has two cats, is a self-described nerd, and whose favorite recipe is pot pie with rosemary. :)

Along with her entourage (manager Elise and best friend Travis), we went into the naturey parts of a local park per her request to photograph Stephanie looking gorgeous. This was my first shoot of 2012… held on one of the coldest days in Raleigh I’ve encountered in a long time… and we all had very limited motion in our extremities by the end of the shoot. :D Thank you for your bravery, Stephanie… and for your awesomeness and help, entourage!

Raleigh Event: Winterfest 2011

Trying to tie up a bunch of loose ends this week before I head out for the holidays, so forgive my unusual lack of long introductions. ;)  Here’s a quick glimpse into Raleigh’s 2011 Winterfest that I was kindly asked to photograph by my friends at the Downtown Raleigh Alliance. :) It was a beautiful evening! It was sad to see Mayor Meeker light the tree for the last time, but we welcome in Raleigh’s new mayor, Nancy McFarlane, with open arms. :)

This shoot was so much fun for me (and Geoff!) to do! I became Twitter pals with another local photographer named Kristen (of Kristen Abigail Photography) a while back. A few weeks later I received an e-mail asking if I’d do the honors of photographing updated headshots of her for her website. I said of course! :) We decided to approach it as having a sort of senior portrait feel. Kristen is often behind the camera but not in front of it, and we could all use a personal photoshoot once in a while instead of just a few headshots. So we had a grand old time running around a part of Raleigh that I hadn’t explored before and got to spend time with a lovely lady! Kristen is such a sweet person and up for anything. I don’t think I’ve had anyone laugh so much on a session! She just cracked up the whole time and was as pleasant as could be. :) So without further ado, here’s Kristen!

Kristen’s nifty camera strap is from Etsy! Looove Etsy for stuff like that (and purses… and headbands… and..)

She brought the little daisy from home where she keeps a bunch of them in her room because they’re a happy source of inspiration!

Kristen – you were fabulous to work with! Thank you so much for asking us to do this. I hope you can use some for your website and use the others as reminders of how lovely and beautiful you are!
