We met up with this family on their beautiful private property in the woods to capture them being all together. They’re with each other a lot, and they love photos, so it was important to them to document them all hanging out, as well as little subsets of group dynamics. Bill and Lucy recently became parents to beautiful baby Guinevere (who is a large fan of eclairs and even a bigger fan of wearing eclairs), and they’re also very close with Lucy’s younger sister Molly (who enjoys taking the extra batter when making deserts to make one very large desert… in this case, a very large elcair). Molly lives with her older brother Tucker and their parents Beth and Russ. There are also two dogs, countless chickens, and three cats. We know, we can see you drawing a little family tree chart in your mind but just know that they’re a big, happy family. They like gardening and being outside. Tucker and Molly enjoy frisbee, and Molly likes climbing trees and building swords and staffs out of various materials. Bill and Lucy enjoy spending time with their baby and pup, and all of the family loves spending time together. It was a ton of fun spending an evening with them! Check out all the various cute things people are holding below (dogs, cats, babies, eclairs).
Faye and Sean are two adorably lovey humans who decided on a courthouse wedding, but then kinda morphed it overtime into a gorgeous little elopement at the Mayton Inn in downtown Cary. The first time it was cancelled due to Hurricane Florence, but their rain date ended up being sunny and warm. We met them at the Mayton Inn where they had a first look, and wanted some pictures inside and outside the hotel before their ceremony. Faye and Sean are both energetic and smiley, and they have the hobbies to match. Faye volunteers at the Duke Lemur Center and loves dinosaurs, unicorns, and their two cats. She also loves Sean, who she calls her own personal superman. Sean is hilarious, good humored, and was happy to participate in all cuddling. Their wedding ceremony was held inside the Mayton Inn, and then their reception involved a lovely dinner on the porch at dusk. Their cake which was adorned by two fearsome yet adorable plastic dinosaurs donned in a top hat and veil, made by Faye’s mother. We wish these two nothing but the best, and we hope they enjoy their honeymoon in Mexico!
Sam+Mark come to us via Jessie+Dan, and if you’re really looking for something to do, you can scroll through that blog post and find a hidden picture of Sam. It’s like Where’s Waldo for Carolyn Scott Photography stalkers! Anyway, Sam and Mark live in Durham, but were up in Pittsburgh for Jessie and Dan’s wedding, as Sam’s family is close with Dan’s family (I think I got that right) and everyone wanted to see them get married but also look at penguins. We didn’t know Sam and Mark at that time but we do now, and oh how we love them! They’re two adventurous and loving people who like exploring Durham and the Eno. We shot this session near the spot on the Eno where Mark proposed. It’s a special place for them, but it was also a super cool spot for us to shoot in that we hadn’t been to before. We braved mosquitoes and donned knee braces and I got bit by one singular fire ant but otherwise remained unscathed by nature despite rock hopping and hiking back to the car in the dark. Which, speaking of night hiking, is something that we learned Sam and Mark have enjoyed doing throughout their dating years! This sounds fun but also terrifying, but they are clearly outdoorsy people (a fact we first learned after Mark became the first person to bike away from our house after our consult). We’re so excited to photograph their wedding next year at the Durham Museum of Life and Science!
