Lexi and Justin are two incredibly sweet people who had a whirlwind rollercoaster ride of a weather forecast leading up to their wedding with either a.) a ton of pollen, b.) a ton of rain, or c.) a ton of both. But, miraculously, the rain totally missed the entire wedding despite a radar that was not looking good at all. They were able to have their ceremony at a beautiful spot outdoors overlooking the hillside and we’re happy to report that none of us turned green from pollen exposure. And it was just lovely! Their family and friends were a ton of fun, and we’re super glad that we got to photograph the hora once again at a wedding! It’s by and large our favorite wedding tradition… especially when they hoist up people who were not expecting to be hoisted up. ;) They had their dog’s faces printed on napkins! And custom wine labels! And a joyful day with each other and people they love (who were very skilled at emergency bustle fixes and ensuring that the Harry Potter guest book was properly signed). We’re so glad that Lexi and Justin were our clients and wish them all the love in the world.

I used to get a ton of requests for high school senior portrait photography that I had to turn down due to our wedding schedule, but now that I’ve switched over to portraiture, I’m so happy that I get to take a bunch of these seniors on! It’s SO fun to work with them and talk to them about the future, and Jackson was no exception. Jackson’s graduating high school this spring, and is moving on to college at Appalachian State University. He considered a lot of different schools before deciding on App because of its different landscape and beautiful campus. In high school, he’s enjoyed playing trumpet in marching band (I am a fellow marching band kid, so I appreciated this greatly!) and trying out a ton of Durham’s restaurants, particularly the authentic Mexican restaurants that he loves. It was so much fun getting to know Jackson and I know he’ll have the best time at App State!

Lindsey and Jacques have been a part of our little client family for several years now, and we are so lucky to have them and know them. We’ve photographed them for both their family photos and business photos, and it’s been so fun seeing them grow! It’s also been fun watching their two creative and intelligent daughters start to draw and write stories of their own, taking after Jacques’s comic book business. But this is our very first time working just solo with Lindsey and Jacques as a couple, sans their kids, family members, or business talk! And we got to know a ton about them… mostly Lindsey’s Star Trek preferences and what books are most important for them to save if they had to choose (they have an extensive library)… BUT ALSO just how good this couple is together. They love and support each other, and most importantly, they laugh with (and at) each other. They are truly hilarious, and kept each other laughing and smiling through the shoot. Also LOOK HOW GOOD THEY LOOK. That dress! That foulard (designed by Ikiré Jones, the same artist who created the foulard for Black Panther)! They are so fabulous. This was the day of their 10th wedding anniversary (and 17 years together total!), and we were so honored that they chose to spend it with us, but so glad we could document them together, laughing and having each other as partners in life. We love ya’ll! Happy anniversary!
