I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve photographed Big Dog Little Bed but if you’re looking to book me for branding photos, Janice is one of the reasons I got back into the branding photo game after taking a few years off, so you have her and her adorable dogs to thank for my return. Janice is an incredible videographer that I had the pleasure to meet when Geoff and I were shooting weddings. We became friends and have worked together in several different capacities since, as well as enjoy cheering for our husbands on their sandlot baseball team. For those of you familiar with my old shoots of BDLB, you might realize that there is a new set of doggos on this shoot. The old BDLB doggos have since passed and we miss them very much, but we welcome with open arms the fresh faces of Layla Bean (little dog) and Bernie (big dog) on this shoot! I’ve photographed Layla Bean before, but this was my first time photographing the Bern, and she didn’t disappoint. She is a sweet dog who does a great job cramming herself into a little bed on command. So happy to do these new branding photos for my friends at BDLB in their gorgeous office with the new pups!

For those of you who keep up with my blog, you’re already familiar with my videographer friends over at Big Dog Little Bed Productions. I’m so grateful to have done a lot of branding photos for Janice and her team over the years, not just because Janice is a friend and an awesome woman, but also because she has extremely cute dogs. Like, really cute dogs. Murphy is the little dog, and he is an extremely good dog model. He looks wherever you want him to. He’s eager to please and seems to realize he’s dog modeling, and does the absolute best that he can. He head-tilts. He puppy-eyes. He lifts his chin and moves for more flattering angles. Murph will do anything that is required of him, and he’ll be proud of himself for this. Toby, the big fluffy pile of fluff, on the other hand, is a terrible model but is so profoundly and stupidly cute that I can barely function around him. He knows I love him so he ignores me, which makes me love him more. He displays a visible, near-constant eye-roll, especially when anyone hugs him. He does not want his picture taken at all and often just puts his butt to the camera and stands there. Janice’s boyfriend’s dog name George was also there and snuck in a few cute pictures as well, but again, was not up to the modeling standards that Murphy clearly sets for dogs.
When I’m not fawning over all present dogs, I am helping Janice take photos for her website, newsletters, social media, etc. We’ve worked in her office for the past couple of years but we shot in her beautiful new home this time and it was incredible! Every inch of that place is gorgeous. We shot some workin’ shots of Janice and Tyler meeting with some clients (thanks to Lauren and Emily for their modeling skills!) and some dog-hugging shots for Big Dog Little Bed’s 2020 year. BDLB does AMAZING marketing films as well as strategy and coaching for small business when it comes to content, so if you’re a business looking to get yourself more visible via video, they’re hands down who I would recommend. Also you might get to meet Toby (bring a lint roller though).
You guys, I love Janice. I’ve known her for a long time now, and I love her more each time I see her if that’s even possible. She’s a truly wonderful bright ball of happy, adorable energy and also a seriously standup person. She knows exactly what Big Dog Little Bed Productions, her videography company, stands for, and she knows exactly how she wants her business to be run, and exactly how she wants her employees to feel. She’s quite serious about having fun at all times while telling the stories of others to best represent them. If you asked, she would 100% be able to confidently tell you her goals and ambitions for her business and they’d all be the most authentically authentic goals you’ve ever heard. She’s a sincere person, and the funnest. Yes, the funnest. She likes Dad glasses and beer and dogs and sewing (she made her black and white top for this shoot!) and everyone likes her. Other people that like her enough to have helped us out for this shoot include Tyler and Yuri, two talented videography members of her team, as well as Madison and Amelia who let us capture some client meeting/work photos. Also in a constant role of support is Murphy the dog, always hanging around for treats and meetings but slightly belligerent when it comes to posed photos. Happy to have shot my third small business branding photos for Big Dog Little Bed!
